For the first time in its 73-year history, the opening round of the Young Performers Awards will be assessed via digital video entry.

The administrators, Music & Opera Singers Trust (MOST), hope that this new format will assist musicians from all around Australia to participate and allow expat Australian musicians currently studying overseas to enter the YPA without having to return to Australia for the opening round.

The change brings the YPA in line with other major instrumental competitions around the world and brings this venerable institution into the 21st century.
